Channel 10's Making It Australia gets punted due to poor ratings

Channel Ten’s latest series Making It Australia debuted with dismal ratings earlier this month.

On Thursday, a network spokesperson confirmed the craft-based reality competition will be moving from its Wednesday/ Thursday primetime slot to Saturday nights.

The series hosted by Susie Yousseff and Harley Breen premiered on September 15 to 474,000 viewers. 

At the time, the underwhelming numbers meant the new series was unable to crack the night’s top ten. 

Moving: ‘We are very proud of Making It Australia but unfortunately it hasn’t performed as we had hoped,’ a spokesperson told TV Blackbox 

Making It Australia’s disastrous ratings follow a very lacklustre season of The Bachelor.

The dating show delivered its lowest finale ratings in history in September, with just 629,000 metro viewers tuning in for the winner announcement.

While this was an increase from the 447,000 viewers for the penultimate episode, it was still a major disappointment for Channel 10.

It comes after Daily Mail Australia revealed Jimmy’s season of The Bachelor will almost certainly be the last.

Sources say Channel 10 has decided to cut the dating show from its 2022 schedule due to high production costs and underwhelming ratings.

It will most likely be replaced by another international dating franchise.   

Making It Australia will now air 6pm Saturdays on 10 and 10 Play.
